Marie Barnes (she/hers) is a seasoned expert in Organizational Psychology
with a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and over 18 years
of experience in the field of applied Human Resources.

She thrives on combining evidence-based practices in order to
solve important real-world problems that improve peoples’ quality of
work life as well as driving organizations’ success.
Marie started her career as a practitioner in public service/public safety working in selection and assessment. She then transitioned to development and learning for a private, non-profit healthcare system and discovered the power of executive coaching. Taking a leap of faith, Marie moved into a full-time faculty role at her alma mater and launched a Master’s program based on the mission of training and mentoring future professionals in I/O psychology. An invitation to create tremendous impact on leadership development for a private tech company drew her back into a practitioner role.
Leveraging her experience from both selection/assessment and leadership development as well as across verticals – public sector, private sector, and higher education – today she is simultaneously nurturing three areas in which she has found success and a strong sense of purpose: teaching, coaching, and consulting.

She is an adjunct professor for the FIU College of Business, Department of Global Leadership and Management teaching Organizational Behavior and an Advisory Board member for the FSU College of Business Organizational Effectiveness Institute (OEI).

She lives in Miami with her husband, Jeff and their cats. In her free time, she enjoys reading, going to girls’ night book club every month, yoga, spinning, and Zumba.
